Dr. Bresnick uses the following procedures to correct the eyelids:
In this procedure, an incision is hidden within the natural fold of the upper eyelid and may extend into a natural crow’s foot line. Through this incision, excess skin and fat are removed and contouring of the eyelid is performed. Once healed, this upper eyelid incision is well camouflaged and naturally hidden whenever the eye is open. The upper eyelid lift can dramatically improve your overall facial appearance.
With this technique (also known as the “scar-less lower eyelid technique” or “transconjunctival blepharoplasty”) excess lower eyelid fat is removed with an incision completely hidden inside the eyelid. In terms of scarring, the eyelids will look untouched since the incision is not visible. Depending on the extent of your facial aging, this procedure performed alone might be just what you need to freshen up your appearance.
During the lower eye lift procedure, excess fat and skin are removed with an incision hidden just below the lower eyelashes. The incision is very well concealed and is virtually invisible once it has healed. For many patients, the lower eyelid is also tightened in this procedure, giving a more youthful eyelid shape and tone.
Patients who have loose or droopy lower eyelids or just desire more youthfully positioned lower lids may benefit from a tightening procedure of the lower eyelid. In this procedure, the lower lid is lifted and tightened with a small, inconspicuous incision.
For patients desiring maximal improvement in the eyelid/brow area, Dr. Bresnick can perform both eyelid lifting and forehead/brow lifting together, rejuvenating the entire upper face. In this procedure, the forehead is tightened, wrinkles are smoothed away, the brows are elevated, and the upper eyelids are restored to a more youthful, attractive appearance.
Patients aren’t limited to a single option for eyelid rejuvenation. Some patients will receive both an upper and lower eye lift. Others may receive an eyelid lift with skin tightening. Dr. Bresnick may also recommend pairing your eyelid surgery with other facial plastic surgery procedures like a facelift.
